Buying An Electric Golf Cart? 3 Things To Look For

If you are thinking about purchasing an electric golf cart, you are going to want to ensure that it has all the features you need to have a good time. That means carefully considering all the features of the golf cart

1. Batteries

The first thing you want to take into consideration is the type of batteries the vehicle comes with. How much charge do the batteries hold? How much power can the batteries provide the cart with? Are the batteries 6, 8, or 12 volts? Is the battery brand known for holding up well over time?

A high voltage battery is going to cost more, but it can also give you more speed and power than a low voltage battery. A better brand name with a reputation for lasting a long time, or that comes with a solid warranty, may get you more years of usage than a lower-quality brand.

If you are buying used, what condition are the batteries in? Be wary of a battery that is covered in corrosion; it may not have long to go before it needs to be replaced.

2. Tires

Second, when purchasing an electric golf cart, look at the tires. For a new golf cart, consider the types of tires on it. Are the tires made for off-roading and taking on dirt and gravel surfaces? Or are the tires made more for driving on paved surfaces? What type of tire you need depends on how you plan on using the golf cart.

If you are buying a used golf cart, take a look at the tread on the tires. Just like with a passenger vehicle you want the tread on the tires to be thick and not worn down. You also want a normal wear pattern on the tires; an abnormal wear problem can be a sign of underlying issues.

Good tires should last a few years, so be sure to inspect them carefully and ensure they are the tires you want.

3. Seating

Third, you need to consider what type of space you want the golf cart to have. Do you want to have seating for just two up front, with large storage space in the back? Do you want a longer cart that has two rows of seating and space for you to put your clubs? Do you want the seats to face each other or face away from each other? Do you want the ability to add a rear seat attachment for cargo space?

It is important to know how many people you want to haul around with you, and how much seating and storage space you need.

When purchasing an electric golf cart, pay attention to the battery, tires, and seating capacity. If you get these features right, you should be in for a fun ride!
